128 FM-Inspired Wavetables for the MD850 Vibes and any other Wavetable Synthesizer
This is our thank you to the synthesizer community. We took the factory patches from the iconic Japanese FM synthesizer that defined the sound of the 1980s and ran their harmonic DNA through our FM resynthesis algorithm, translating it into 256 single-cycle frames per wavetable. The result doesn’t sound like the original — it sounds like something that didn’t exist before: FM-derived textures you can morph through complex harmonic evolutions with a single macro knob. Every wavetable in this pack is derived from the 128 factory presets of the iconic Japanese FM synthesizer that shaped an entire decade of music. We selected 32 of the most harmonically interesting voices across all four ROM banks and converted them into wavetable format.

What’s Inside
FM-DNA as Raw Material, Wavetable as Your Playground
Important: these wavetables are not 1:1 copies of classic FM sounds. The original patches provide the harmonic raw material — the spectral fingerprints of FM synthesis. What you build from them in your wavetable synth will be something entirely your own: new textures shaped by the character of FM synthesis, brought to life by your filters, modulations, and effects.

FM Rhodes Collection
Derived from legendary FM E.Piano algorithms. These wavetables capture the characteristic overtone structure — bell-like, metallic, complex. Not a Rhodes replacement, but a fantastic starting point for crystalline keys and pluck sounds.
BASS & SYNTH
FM Bass Engine
FM bass patches deliver harmonically dense waveforms with rich movement in the lower overtones. Ideal as a foundation for your own bass patches — the FM texture brings a character that pure wavetable oscillators can’t produce on their own.
BELLS & MALLETS
Crystal Bells
Inharmonic FM spectra from bell and mallet patches. As you scan through the frames, the overtone ratios shift in ways that purely additive wavetables simply can’t achieve — metallic, glassy, unpredictable.
PADS & STRINGS
FM Atmospheres
Spectral evolutions extracted from slowly evolving FM pad patches. Scanned slowly and layered with your own filters and reverbs, these create textures with an organic complexity that’s distinctly FM.
ORGAN & CLAV
Digital Organ Set
Percussive FM algorithms with strong overtone movement in the attack phase. Not intended as an organ replacement, but as a source of percussive, harmonically rich textures with a digital edge.

These wavetables don’t sound like the original FM synth. Classic FM tones get their character from the real-time interplay of multiple operators, their envelopes, velocity response, and the specific hardware of the original instrument. Our wavetables extract the spectral essence of those patches — the harmonic patterns and overtone evolutions that make FM synthesis special. What you build from them in your synth will be something entirely your own. That’s exactly the point.
